BRASSICACEAE

Jump to a section: Genera

Contains 23 genera and 45 accepted taxa overall.

This family is completely databased for all Florida specimens.

Family Notes:The preference has generally been to recognize three families (Christenhusz et al. 2015): Capparaceae, Cleomaceae, and Brassicaceae s.s. For an overview of accepted genera in Brassicaceae s.s. see Al-Shehbaz (2012). Cleome in the traditional sense is clearly polyphyletic. For Florida species, the relevant genera include Arivela (A. viscosa), Cleoserrata (C. speciosa), Gynandropsis (G. gynandra), Sieruela (S. rutidosperma), and Tarenaya (T. hassleriana, T. spinosa) (Iltis & Cochrane 2007; Cochrane & Iltis 2014; Patchell et al. 2014; Roalson et al. 2015).
