Description Spontaneous, not intentionally cultivated; multiple, erect shrub 8-9 ft. tall, with numerous seedlings nearby and spreading throughout; upper stems and petioles glaucous; new leaves bronze; staminate flowers restricted to the lower portion of inflorescence, apetalous, with numerous pale yellow stamens; pistillate flowers on the upper portion of inflorescence, apetalous, with orangish yellow to reddish orange styles; fruit globose with glaucous body and covered in soft prickles (often flushed pink at the tips).
Habitat Teaching garden, now abandoned.
