Description Uncommon herbaceous annual to ca. 25 cm [dm] tall; stem pubescent; leaves alternate, unifoliate, with sharp-pointed tips, sparsely pubescent, lanceolate, oval to linear; stipules with striations; flowers purple, paired, stalked, axillary and terminal; corolla pea-shaped; pods erect, cylindrical.
Habitat Open, disturbed field along a mesic flatwood forest; associates include Crotalaria spectabilis, Cenchrus echinatus, and Bidens alba.
