Description Young stems glaucous; cones yellow-green; immature; leaves in pairs; branch tips blunt; often with galls; older stems chalky grayish-white.
Habitat Open chapparal with grazing history; with shrubs; including Ephedra spp., Sphaeralcea ambigua, Purshia tridentata; foothills; steep slope of ravine on red sandstone; gravelly-loam soil; SE of road.
