Locality USA. Georgia , Candler Co. : C.C. Harold Nature Preserve. Salem Church Road near Stockinghead Creek.
Description Deciduous shrub or small tree to 15 ft. Petals pure white, varying from 4 to 5 and sometimes 3. Most flower heads are panicles, but some are racemose with branched penduncles near base. All heads grow vertically on shrub. Flower buds to 4mm., in length aee upright, then become pendant, spilling pollen into unopened petal "spoons". Buds rise to a horizontal position on axis, then petals reflex.
Habitat In mixed woods; well drained acid soil.
