Locality Puerto Rico. Mayaguez Mun. : Bo. Miradero, Tropical Agricultural Research Station (TARS), adjacent to Universidad de Puerto Rico campus in Mayaguez. 18° 12' 45" N 67° 8' 0" W
Description Small tree 9 m tall, 14 cm in diameter; bark smooth, tan; plant, especially the fruits, with a resinous aromatic odor, somewhat like that of Anacardiaceae or Burseraceae; fruit green, turning light orange, some beginning to open, capsular, revealing bright red-orange aril over the seeds, reminiscent of Trichilia in the Meliaceae.
Habitat Open areas and disturbed woodland with remnants of many planted species.
