Most recent authors have merged Tournefortia into Heliotropium and Myriopus, and Feuillet (Phytoneuron 2019(63): 1. 2019) made the combination Heliotropium album (from Tournefortia alba Splitgerber ex De Vriese 1848) to accomodate our species, with Tournefortia bicolor in synonymy. However, there are two earlier names than Tournefortia alba that seem to be generally recognized as synonms of T. bicolor, i.e. T. laevigata Lamarck 1791and T. nitida Kunth 1818; both epithets are not preoccupied in Heliotropium. In addidion, Tournefortia alba has mostly been seen as a synonym of T. hirsutissima, and not listed with T. bicolor.
