**
Often cultivated in Florida, this species is characterized by its villous pedicel, calyx, and fruit with long trichomes and the corolla lobes drying lighter than the tube. Another similar species, H. chrysanthus, has a tomentose pedicel, calyx, and fruit with shorter stellate trichomes and the dried corolla lobes are generally concolorous with the tube (Gentry 1992: 131-132).
