Sanicula canadensis L.
CANADIAN BLACKSNAKEROOT
**
Bicknell (1897) described S. floridana (later reduced to a variety by Wolff) as a commonly smaller plant with more numerous, closely spaced cauline leaves with fewer and larger teeth. Bicknell (1897) was also of the opinion that typical S. canadensis occurred in Florida. Shan & Constance (1951) stated that S. floridana "seems to have no distinct features deserving special status".
