**
Cassytha filiformis is able to parasitize a wide range of species, being observed on 81 different species and 45 families in the Bahamas (Werth et al. 1979). Cassytha has flowers well-spaced and solitary at a node with the fruits as berries, differing from Cuscuta (Convolvulaceae) with densely flowered inflorescences and fruits as dry capsules.
