Characteristics

Indigofera spicata Forssk.
TRAILING INDIGO
**
This plant contains indospicine (an amino acid) and is notably toxic to many grazing animals (Morton 1989; Fletcher et al. 2015). Florida material appears to key out as I. spicata, although it has been alleged instead that I. hendecaphylla is the species occurring in Florida (Du Puy et al. 1993; Wilson & Rowe 2008).
