According to Edwards et al. (2009), only the nutlet size clearly separates this taxon from C. canescens. All other morphological characters overlap. Conradina brevifolia is characterized as leaves 6-10 mm long and mature nutlets 1-1.25 x 0.5-9 mm. Leaves to 13 mm long are sometimes observed (e.g. Brass 33444 and Gilbert s.n., 287697).

A peculiar disjunct population in Hernando Co. was identified as Conradina canescens, which is typically considered restricted to the Florida panhandle and neighboring regions in surrounding states. Conradina canescens is characterized by leaves 7-20 mm long and mature nutles 0.7-1 x 0.5-0.7 mm. It is very similar to C. brevifolia.

Conradina cygniflora is recognized by its calyx 8.5-11 mm long with the longest calyx lobe 3.6-4.4 mm long (Edwards et al. 2009). Differences concerning leaf abaxial trichomes were also given. It is otherwise very similar to C. etonia, which is separated by about 30 km and the St. Johns River.
