Locality: | Nicaragua. Chinandega Dept. Pacific coastal plain (planice costera), near Golfo de Fonseca, Just S of Comarca Cayanlipe at a place locally called "La Tronconado" 3 km S of village of Cayanlipe, 14 km SW of Villa Nueva. 12º 52’ 25” N 86º 54’ 50” W |
Habitat: | Now dry savanna of jicaro (Crescentia alata), with scattered Guazuma ulmifolia, Acacia farnesiana, heavily invaded with solid stands of Hyparrhenia rufa, few Sesbania sp., with dense, weedy, spiny thickets of Byttneria aculeata on edge, where only here, safe from cattle and competition fro H. rufa, Zea luxurians survives in a small colony less than 20 individuals. |
