Habitat: | Long, E-W-lying gorge of Cambrian sandstone and quartzite conglomerate with southe dry-mesic forest on W-facing slope; Quercus spp. dominant, with Acer rubrum, Carya cordiformis, Ulmus americana and Carpinus caroliniana, succeeding to Acer saccharum and Tilia americana, the groundlayer with Bromus pubescens, Carex cephalodea, Circaea lutetiana subsp. canadensis, Geum canadense, Poa alsodes, Sanicula gregaria, S. marilandica, Solidago ulmifolia, and Triosteum aurantiacum. |
