Description:Many plants of the Ilex throughout the understory, larger ones with trunks up to 14 in. circumference and to 25 ft. tall. 
Habitat:Black gum [Nyssa sylvatica]-pond cypress [Taxodium ascendens] swamp (pond), water level at times to 5 ft. deep in deepest part as shown by stains on tree trunks. Overstory principally black gum [Nyssa sylvatica], some pond cypress [Taxodium ascendens], red maple [Acer rubrum], mayhaw [Crataegus aestivalis], Viburnum obovatum.
