Description:Rather common, robust erect, clumped perennial sedge, perigynia inflated, spikes green. 
Habitat:Alluvial soil; low level areas in wet open ground; general area has virgin forest; wet-mesic floodplain forest dominated by Quercus, Celtis, Carya spp., and Acer saccharinum; understory includes Carex spp., Laportea canadensis, Senecio glabellus, Saururus cernuus.
