Description:Plants to 1 m tall, but mostly smaller, lower leaves all shed. 
Habitat:Near streambank and in pasture lot near houses; in full sun among other weedy plants, e.g. Amaranthus graecizans, Medicago hispida, Malva parviflora, Plantago major, Poa annua, Polypogon monspeliensis, and Silybum marianum.

Description:Taprooted herb, flowers pale yellow; occasional to locally common at edge of wash below dunes; sparse desert-dune vegetation, dominated by Cercidium floridum, Larrea tridentata, Oenothera deltoides, spring herb layer. 
Habitat:Pale brown high wind-deposited dunes, deep deposits, granitic sand, separated by lower level washes.
