Description:Awns longer than usual; common; leaf too wide for Chloris cucullata. 
Habitat:Secondary cypress [Taxodium] swamp with red maple [Acer rubrum], ash [Fraxinus], Cephalanthus, laurel oak [Quercus laurifolia], royal fern [Osmunda regalis var. spectabilis] border below a dry, sandy pine ridge with longleaf pine [Pinus palustris], turkey oak [Q. laevis], and saw palmetto [Serenoa repens].
