Description:Over 1000 flowering plants in population; flowers 5 cm diameter, violet, anthers yellow, stigmas violet, styles white. Collected at 7:00 AM, closed by 9:00 AM. 
Habitat:Moist, open pine stand, with Rhexia lutea, R. nashii, Erigeron vernus, Asclepias michauxii, Polygala ramosa, P. incarnata, etc.
