Description:Common herbaceous perennial [actually annual] to ca. 25 cm [?; specimen is ca. 4 dm] tall; stem slender, with milky sap; leaves alternate below and opposite above, ovate to elliptic; cyathial glands with white petaloid appendages; seeds reticulate. 
Habitat:Disturbe edge of mesic flatwoods; associates include Myrica cerifera, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Dactyloctenium aegyptium, Phyllanthus urinaria, and Phyla nodiflora.
