Description:Common shrub to ca 50 cm tall; stem with many branches; ocreae non-ciliated and pointed on one side; leaves alternate, entire, linear to narrowly spatulate; flowers small, fragrant, in spikelike racemes; petals lacking; sepals white. 
Habitat:Sandy edge of a [sand] live oak - slash pine forest; associates include Pinus elliottii, Quercus geminata, Serenoa repens, Lyonia ferruginea, Aristida stricta [A. stricta var. beyrichiana], and Polypremum procumbens.
