Description:Codominat tree ca. 20 m. tall; pleasant balsam aroma; needles upswept; male cones mature to senescent; female immature. 
Habitat:Mountain ridge; granitic gneissic metamorphic rockl pockets of humus and sandy soil; coniferous forest domainated by Abies concolor, Quercus sp., Pinus jeffreyi, P. lambertiana, Arctostaphylos patula, Cercocarpus ledifolius.
