Description:Co-dominant tree ca. 20 m tall, pleasant balsam aroma; needles upswept, male cones mature to senescent; female immature. 
Habitat:Mountain ridge; granitic gneissic metamorphic rock, pockets of humus and sandy soil; coniferous forest dominated by Abies concolor, Quercus sp., Pinus jeffreyi, P. lambertiana, Arctostaphylos patula, Cercocarpus ledifolius.
