Tentatively included in synonymy here, two segragate taxa (A. cabanisii and A. miamiensis) can be recognized. Andropogon cabanisii would be endemic from the central panhandle to Collier Co. Andropogon miamiensis is a relatively tall, bluish-glaucous grass endemic to pine rocklands of Miami-Dade Co. and the Keys. The southern limit of Andropogon ternarius s.str. is thought to occur in Polk Co. (Bridges & Orzell 2018).
